Attention to Detail
In any construction process, the details are what truly make the design. The goal of the overall reconstruction of The House on Mapleton Drive is to add dimension and personality to a museum-like space. Defining the details of the outlets for TVs, reviewing the shade pocket measurements, and the engineering for the fireplace footings are all facets of the design that are essential to creating richness in the design.
“Michael’s cinematic imagination means that his interiors are possessed of a remarkable richness of detail.”
- Julia Reed, The Curated House
The design team will be working closely with the construction company, Balcorp, to give updates of all recent modifications to the interior architectural details of each room. The team is set to go over the mark-up the shop drawings based on changes to toe kick heights and door height proportions for the master bath. They will also confirm electrical, sconces, finish material and details to complete cabinet and paneling shops for the walls behind the bar. The team will also get final approval for the wood flooring, paint schedule, and details for weatherproofing all doors and windows. These aesthetics aren't a side note, they impact the overall space greatly and will help to make the home truly a Michael S. Smith design.
